"Doin' Good in the Neighborhood" Trust Proposes Matching Grants Program for Neighborhood Beautification
By Paula Detwiller

Imagine if every historic district in Delray Beach were clearly marked with monument signs, tastefully designed to reflect the character of each neighborhood.   Delray Beach. The Trust is working toward presenting the program to the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) Commissioners to gain their support as well.

The matching grant program will be unveiled and explained at a community event on Thursday, May 26 at 7:00 p.m. at the Crest Theater (see flyer, page 4). All residents of Historic Districts and members of the Trust are invited free of charge and will be treated to an encore presentation of the acclaimed "Delray Then and Now" documentary after learning the details of the grant program. Refreshments will be served - a special recipe from the old "Patio Delray"!

"This grant program will give Delray neighborhoods a way to triple their funds for beautification," said Donna Sloan, Board Member at Large for the Preservation Trust.

The matching grant funds would be used for neighborhood improvements, beginning with a "signage for all neighborhoods" campaign. Dan Sloan, a local Architect and preservationist, designed a prototype sign for the Marina Historic District along with an overall improvement plan for the District.
